22/10: Gourmet October camp - Turkish cuisine
Get ready to travel the world without leaving our kitchen. Welcome to a feast of bold flavours, vibrant colours, and the incredible warmth of Turkish cuisine!
This class is a full dive into one of the world's most exciting food cultures with aromatic spices, slow-cooked comfort, and the kind of food that brings everyone around the table together.
We fire things up with homemade lamb kebabs. Your young chefs will get their hands into the mix, blending spiced lamb mince with fresh herbs, shaping it onto skewers, and cooking it to juicy, charred perfection. They'll discover how a handful of spices can completely transform a piece of meat, and why getting your hands involved is sometimes the best cooking tool in the kitchen.
Next, we slow right down for a deeply fragrant chickpea stew. This is the kind of dish that simmers away and fills the whole room with incredible smell — warming spices, sweet tomatoes, tender chickpeas, and layers of flavour built one step at a time. Our young cooks will learn how to build a proper base, balance spices, and coax maximum flavour out of simple, beautiful ingredients.
To finish the feast, everyone assembles a fresh, bright Turkish salad with crisp vegetables, fresh herbs, a squeeze of lemon, and a drizzle of good olive oil. The perfect contrast to all that warmth and richness on the rest of the plate.
Our chefs will be right there throughout, unlocking the secrets of Turkish spicing, showing how texture and freshness balance a rich meal, and proving that some of the most extraordinary food in the world comes from surprisingly simple techniques.
By the end of the session the spread is laid out, the smells are extraordinary, and your young chefs sit down together to enjoy the full Turkish feast they built from scratch.
