27/10: Gourmet October camp - A taste of the bistro
Ever wondered what it feels like to cook like a real French chef? Today we welcome your foodies to our taste of the bistro, where classic technique meets serious deliciousness!
This class is a proper deep dive into the kind of cooking that fills Parisian restaurant windows and makes people stop in their tracks on the street outside. Elegant and precise this is the session our young chefs will be talking about for a long time.
We open the class with a chicken ballotine and yes, it sounds fancy, because it is. Your young chefs will learn how to butterfly and flatten a chicken breast, layer it with a gorgeous savoury filling, roll it into a tight, perfect cylinder, and cook it to juicy, golden perfection. This is the kind of dish that looks like it took a professional years to master, Your children are going to nail it in one session! Slicing it open to reveal the filling inside is one of those moments that never gets old.
Then we move to the star of the dessert menu: a chocolate and pear tart. Your bakers will make the pastry from scratch, prepare a silky dark chocolate ganache, and poach pear. t It looks like something from a patisserie counter. It tastes even better than it looks. And every single element was made by the kids themselves.
Our chefs will be right there to break down the techniques behind ballotine rolling, explaining how ganache works, and sharing the kind of insider knowledge that turns a curious young cook into a genuinely confident one.
By the end of the session the plates are dressed, the tart is sliced, and your young chefs sit down to a proper bistro lunch they built from scratch. Refined, delicious, and just a little bit impressive — exactly the way a great bistro should feel.
