25/08: Gourmet August camp - Provencal cuisine
Bring the sun-drenched flavours of the South of France into your kitchen with this hands-on Provençal cooking workshop for children! Discover the magic behind three iconic dishes from the heart of Provence, a classic ratatouille, a tangy tapenade, and the legendary salade niçoise.
This interactive class guides young chefs step-by-step through traditional Mediterranean techniques and bright, sunny flavours, from chopping rainbow vegetables for a slow-simmered ratatouille to crushing salty olives into a glossy tapenade, and tossing together a colourful, vibrant salade niçoise. Discover the balance of olive oil, fresh herbs, ripe summer vegetables, and a touch of sunshine that makes Provençal food so joyful and irresistible.
During the workshop, the children will:
Prepare an authentic ratatouille with aubergine, courgette, peppers, and tomatoes, gently simmered with herbes de Provence
Make their own tapenade — the iconic olive, caper, and olive-oil spread of the South of France
Assemble a beautiful salade niçoise with green beans, boiled eggs, olives, tomatoes, and tuna
Explore the flavour palette of Provence: basil, thyme, garlic, olive oil, and ripe summer vegetables
Build real kitchen confidence with practical tips and skills to recreate these dishes at home
Perfect for budding young cooks, curious eaters, or any child who loves to roll up their sleeves and create something delicious. Enjoy a sunny Provençal adventure — and take home the bright, fresh dishes you've made.
