20/02: Mini chefs: Marble cake
Calling all little food explorers! In this fun, hands-on workshop, our Mini Chefs (ages 3–5) will roll up their sleeves, put on their aprons, and discover the joy of cooking while making a delicious marble cake
In this marble cake workshop, mini chefs will explore baking through colour, texture, and gentle hands-on activities. Using a simple vanilla and chocolate batter, children will discover how two flavours come together to create the marbled effect inside a cake.
During the session, children will help with safe, age-appropriate tasks such as mixing, pouring, and swirling the batters, while adults manage all steps involving heat. The focus is on curiosity, coordination, and enjoyment rather than precision.
The workshop is calm and sensory-rich, encouraging children to observe changes in colour and texture and to feel confident participating in the baking process. It offers a playful introduction to baking while supporting positive food experiences.
At the end of the session, children are invited to taste their marble cake and celebrate the patterns they helped create.
Key benefits:
Builds confidence and independence in the kitchen
Develops fine motor skills through mixing and pouring
Encourages creativity and observation
Supports a positive, relaxed relationship with baking
No previous cooking experience is needed—just curiosity and a love of discovering how things change in the kitchen.
