26/08: Gourmet August camp - Italian bread class
Bring the warmth and aroma of an Italian bakery into your kitchen with this hands-on bread-making workshop for children! Discover the secrets behind three iconic Italian breads — soft, dimpled focaccia, crisp golden grissini breadsticks, and a rustic olive-studded loaf.
This interactive class guides young bakers step-by-step through traditional Italian techniques and timeless flavours, from mixing and kneading their very first dough to dimpling, shaping, and topping each bread with care. Discover the magic of yeast and patience, the comforting smell of bread baking in the oven, and the joy of breaking apart a loaf you've made yourself — the everyday rituals that make Italian baking so beloved.
During the workshop, the children will:
Mix, knead, and shape a soft, dimpled focaccia, drizzled with olive oil and scattered with sea salt and fragrant rosemary
Roll and stretch their own grissini, the crisp, golden breadsticks of Piedmont
Bake a rustic olive bread studded with briny black and green olives
Explore the simple, beautiful Italian baking palette, flour, water, yeast, olive oil, herbs, and a sprinkle of sea salt
Build real confidence working with dough, plus practical tips to bake these breads at home
